POSITION: Head Golf Coach
LOCATION: Ellensburg High School
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Head Golf Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of the high school boys and girls golf program. The coach will foster a positive and inclusive environment while teaching fundamental golf skills, strategy, mental toughness, and teamwork. The Head Coach will ensure that all student-athletes represent the school and community with integrity, sportsmanship, and pride.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, organize, and conduct all practices and competitions for the golf program.
- Provide instruction on golf techniques, rules, and strategies appropriate for high school athletes.
- Promote academic achievement, personal growth, and positive character development among student-athletes.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches.
- Oversee athlete eligibility, program budgets, equipment inventory, and facility use.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administrators.
- Ensure compliance with district, league, and WIAA rules and regulations.
- Maintain high standards of safety, care, and sportsmanship.
- Attend athletic department meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
- Must have a current First Aid and CPR Certificate and be versed in related preventative health and training standards.
- Must complete Blood Borne Pathogen and Sexual Harassment Training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous successful coaching or competitive golf experience required; head coaching experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Commitment to fostering sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
- Ability to model and uphold district and WIAA standards of conduct and ethics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the athletic department and school community.
