Position Summary:
Supports management and employees of the company by providing a wide range of Human Resource functions related to recruitment and selection, employee relations, retention, compensation, and benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports operation in the qualification, screening and interviewing of candidates, and makes hiring recommendations.
- Manages the employment process in accordance with established hiring standards including reference verifications, background investigations, drug testing and makes hiring recommendations based on the outcomes of the pre-employment process.
- Schedules and conducts new employee orientations to thoroughly explain company benefits and employee handbook provisions.
- Advises supervisors and managers on employee relations matters and responds to inquiries from employees regarding benefits or employee services.
- Maintains and updates internet job descriptions for all current positions and develops job descriptions for new positions as required.
- Creates and implements programs to promote company benefits, enhance communication efforts and improve employee satisfaction.
- Assists with all clerical needs to include filing, and documentation.
- Assists with the issuing and creation of discipline.
- Schedules, reviews, and facilitates meetings with associates as needed.
- Assists in the yearly recertification of all employees and other relevant training.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Attends daily operational and safety meetings.
- Provide high visibility on the shifts to ensure practices are followed in all areas of the distribution center.
- Completes all payroll functions.
- Monitors compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Assists in the preparation and investigation of grievances.
- Assists in the training of probationary associates and reporting.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and track employees time off as it relates to FMLA / Short Term disability /Personal leaves.
- Primary point of contact on issues related to configuring time keeping in UKG (Dimensions/Kronos) to ensure accuracy of payroll processing.
- Primary point of contact for management on the creation and sharing of reports related to people data in UKG.
- Prepares written responses to claims for unemployment benefits, and represents and defends the company at unemployment hearings to minimize the company’s liability.
- Provides effective advice and counseling to supervisors on all matters involving employee relations.
- Creates and implements programs to promote company benefits, enhance communication efforts and improve employee satisfaction.
Job Specifications:
- High School diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in human resources/business administration and/or SHRM-CPcertification preferred.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- Previous experience in an union environment preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years prior experience in human resources.
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office
- Previous experience with HRIS and Kronos - UKG (UltiPro/Kronos/Dimensions) strongly preferred.
- High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Exhibits accuracy, attention to detail and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in all aspects of human resources work.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as required.
