Westlake Academy is a K-12 open-enrollment public charter school operated by the Town of Westlake, Texas. The Academy is committed to academic excellence and global-mindedness through its International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Westlake Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to join its pool of Mathematics teachers for the high-school level. We are especially interested in teachers with a background in Geometry and the ability to teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme course Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation. Candidates in this pool will be considered for future teaching opportunities as positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Priority will be given to applicants who possess:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field
- Knowledge of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs
- 1-3 years of experience in an IB World School
- IBEN Member
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
- State teaching certification; IB training is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and its emphasis on inquiry, international-mindedness, and academic rigor
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in meaningful and innovative learning experiences
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons that align with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Diploma Programme (DP) framework.
- Develop and implement student-centered, inquiry-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and align instruction with IB standards.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and support student learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of IB philosophy and pedagogy.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the direct supervisor.
