Senior Scientist- Ogden Lab chez St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

The Ogden lab's current efforts are aimed at understanding how cells exchange signals through specialized filopodia to drive tissue morphogenesis in the developing nervous and cardiopulmonary systems. The successful candidate will have experience with project and people management, manuscript and/or grant preparation, laboratory training/mentoring, and protocol development. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in developmental biology research and the use of murine models. Experience performing high-resolution microscopy is also preferred.

The Ogden lab at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/research/labs/ogden-lab.html  is accepting applications for a Senior Scientist of Lab Research to conduct studies on intercellular communication.

Responsibilities will include:

• Coordinate team-based, multi-disciplinary projects independently under overall direction of the PI.
• Build deep understanding of the field and be familiar with current literature in the field and related disciplines.
• Develop new research protocols, techniques, and procedures.
• Identify, process, organize, interpret, review, and report relevant experimental data.
• Monitor data collection and entry methods to meet quality standards.
• Present research to colleagues within and outside the institution; publish as co-author and/or independently draft sections of research manuscripts.
• Guide/make recommendations for optimal lab operations, administration, and training.
• Regularly train and oversee the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required

Minimum Experience:

• Ten (10) years relevant work experience is required
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required with a Master's degree
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience is required with a PhD

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for the role of Senior Scientist- Ogden Lab.
