Contract Specialist 

Job Description 

The Contract Specialist will work with and inform the chief operating officer (COO), account directors, and functional managers of the contractual obligations and will ensure that required reporting is accomplished. They will initiate and oversee other corporate compliance initiatives to establish and implement consistent policies and procedures, including information security. The Contract Specialist will also manage the full lifecycle of contracts and proposals, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and tracking agreements. This role also plays a critical part in reviewing government RFPs for compliance and coordinating proposal submissions to ensure alignment with requirements and deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and contractors. 

  • Maintain and organize the contract database; monitor renewals, expirations, and compliance obligations. 

  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to ensure contracts meet regulatory and company standards. 

  • Review government RFPs and solicitations for eligibility, compliance, and strategic fit. 

  • Coordinate with internal teams to assist in gathering required documentation and review for compliance with requirements. 

  • Provide guidance on contract terms, risk mitigation, and proposal language. 

  • Assist in developing and improving contract templates and workflows. 

  • Ensure contracts are executed and stored securely. 

  • Support audits and reporting related to contracts. 

  • Serve business development efforts by interfacing with Systems for Award Management (SAM), BETA-SAM, and necessary GSA portals, and by leading the pricing volume response.

  • Ability to lead with why, seeking to understand perspectives and information 

  • Skill in dealing effectively with contracts involving FAR, DFARS, HSARS, GSA Schedules, Information Security Standards to include DoD’s new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC Level 1 and CMMC Level 2), NIST 800-137, DCAAcompliant timekeeping, and project management systems. 

  • Ability to communicate, both verbal and written, for the purpose of identifying and assessing compliance gaps in contract performance. 

  • Ability to effectively develop and implement corporate compliance policies and procedures. 

  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and proposals simultaneously 

Education and Experience 

  • BA or BS degree 

  • 5+ years of experience in contract management and/or government proposal coordination. 

  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and commercial terms. 

  • Experience with government RFPs, including federal, state, or local solicitations. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.  

  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with strategy and creative teams. 

  • Preferred Skills: 

  • Previous government experience preferred  

  • Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, HSARS, GSA schedule, and contract-specific requirements.  

  • Familiarity with international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. 

  • Experience working in a creative agency or marketing environment. 

  • Experience with contract and proposal management software is a plus.
