This role serves as the main financial liaison and supervises all financial activities related to the Grant Financial Management Program within the Department. Additionally, the position manages accounts receivable, oversees revenue reporting and analysis for the entire Department, and handles special accounting projects as required.
This role stands out for its dynamic nature, offering the opportunity to collaborate across multiple departments and gain insight into various facets of the agency through grant-related work. Additionally, the position involves coordinating special projects as they arise, enabling the incumbent to apply their skills in data tracking and reporting to support strategic initiatives.
Position Duties
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Accountant 1 has an SER of $21.63 per hour.
Accountant 2 has an SER of $23.14 per hour.
Accountant 3 has an SER of $26.50 per hour
Accountant 4 has an SER of $30.35 per hour
Career Progression Group: ACCOUNTANT 1, 2, 3, or 4
- Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
- Salary depends on the level of experience.
