We’re looking for an Application Engineer to join our team in Lincoln, NE. The Application Engineer will develop design information and performance ratings for industrial water tube boilers and heat recovery steam generators as a member of a cross-functional team.

What will you do in this role?

Responsible for Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for maintaining costing tools such as for CBCW and PVCU; for translation of costing templates to IFS product structures and for integrity of product structures to ensure proper part costing. Work with the functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Finance) to update processes to leverage the ERP system.

Essential Duties:

  1. Must possess thorough and relevant product knowledge.
  2. Must have thorough understanding of ERP systems in particular engineering, product structure and part cost modules.
  3. Must have strong communication skills and a background in manufacturing systems
  4. Must possess leadership capability – ability to understand the motives and objectives of the Plant and communication/interpersonal skills to effectively carry out responsibilities and to develop and motivate others.
  5. Work collaboratively with Order Entry team and application engineering team to implement the process changes
  6. Monitor and ensure the teams are following the procedures, effectiveness of the process changes and finetune the processes.
  7. Supports other functional departments on processing issues.
  8. Develop and track KPIs for monitoring process changes
  9. Demonstrates enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.
  10. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate
  11. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established policies to achieve overall objectives of this position.

Internal Contacts:     Regular (80-90%)

Resolve controversies where practices and procedures and/or methods do not provide precise direction as to desired outcomes.  Help establish priorities within other departments to support objectives.

External Contacts:     Regular (10-20%)

Work with sales partners and other CB divisions to develop procedures and processes to improve execution efficiencies. 

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or related field; or Associate Degree in Engineering or related field plus equivalent related experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience: 

  • Strong working knowledge of engineering, manufacturing process and ERP systems is desired.
  • Good working knowledge of steam plant equipment including boilers, fans, pumps, valves, and deaerators.
  • Experienced with AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are preferred.
  • Engineering experience (outlined above) preferred as follows:

Engineer III – 5 years to less than 8 years preferred.

Engineer IV – 8 or more years preferred.

Physical Skill and Effort:   

Limited manual dexterity required.  Work requires infrequent physical effort.

Working Conditions and Hazards:

Office conditions.  From time to time, slightly disagreeable features.  Negligible/little or no exposure.
