London Borough of Harrow's Adult Social Care division are seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) Senior Practitioner to provide advice and support to Occupational Therapists, OT Assistants and Trusted Assessors in the team on casework relating to adults and children with physical disabilities, in addition to the commissioning of services for the provision of adaptations and equipment to promote the independence of citizens.
Tasks include providing professional advice and information to care management teams and Harrow Adaptations and facilities/Repair Team (HART), as well as chairing Professional Meetings/Case Conferences. Furthermore, you will work on complex cases which may include moving and handling issues, liaising with both internal and external colleagues as appropriate and carrying out joint visits. When needed, you will also be responsbile for supporting the Team Manager by deputising in their absence and/or acting as Duty Manager.
With the welfare of citizens at the heart of what we do, we are looking for someone who can ensure that statutory assessments / reviews are completed in a timely fashion such that decisions can be taken about next steps.
Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have regular access to a vehicle, as travel to peripheral stores is an expected part of this role.
About you:The successful candidate will:
- Hold an Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Have registration with HCPC.
- Have extensive knowledge of the legislation/policies that relate to the Adults agenda, to a level that can advise other less experienced staff.
- Have significant experience in carrying out occupational therapy responsibilities to advise and guide less experienced staff.
- Have experience of providing professional supervision to Occupational Therapists, OTA’s and Trusted Assessors or students.
- The ability to carry out specialised training as required.
- Have the ability to present complex cases to panel with good clear outcomes.
- The ability to write reports.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional unsocial hours.
- A full UK Drivers license
- Access to a vehicle for work purposes
