Job Summary
Highlands Community Charter and Technical Schools (HCCTS) seeks an experienced, visionary Director of Communications to lead and execute internal and external communications across the organization. This role is central to our mission of serving second-chance learners by ensuring clear, consistent, and inspiring communication with students, staff, community partners, and policymakers.
The Communications Director will oversee a communications team, serve as the Executive Director’s communications lead, and collaborate closely with all departments to ensure information is accurate, timely, and accessible. The Director will also coordinate external consultants and act as the school’s public information officer.

Requirements / Qualifications

. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (preferred). Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
. Administrative Credential Preferred for Certificated role.
. 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public affairs, government, advocacy, education, or association sectors.
. Demonstrated experience in crisis communications, executive communications, and reputation management.
. Proven track record in managing communications staff and consultants.
. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats.
. Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver results.
. Commitment to equity, community engagement, and mission-driven work.
Salary Info
$132,300 - $177,295 (7 Steps)
