Supports turbomachinery sales and project application engineering organizations by developing Modular Product and Balance of Plant Equipment technical and commercial proposals in support of new project developments for both Turbomachinery (O&G) and Customer Services (O&G & PG) aftermarket solutions for the worldwide market.
Provide technical and commercial leadership to assess and mitigate risks to achieve company business objectives through realization of project bookings, revenue, and margin to meet company sales targets, delivery commitments, financial objectives, and project profitability.
Project complexity can include standard equipment products, customized solutions, and expanded scope including complete site integration/const ruction, for both onshore and offshore project applications, with project values ranging from $200 thousand to $35+ Million.
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of principles relating to a wide range of Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment required for operation of gas turbine compression applications is a plus. Typical equipment includes, offshore process modules, packaged equipment, air cooled exchangers, separators/scrubbers, process piping and valves, fuel/seal gas conditioning.
Additional knowledge of principles relating to Combined Heat & Power (CHP) and Combined Cycle, balance of plant equipment (WHRU, HRSG, Steam Turbines) for both offshore and onshore project applications.
Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and company specifications, project execution, engineering, design, fabrication, quality processes, contractual terms, and condition. The ability to apply these principles to provide direction to supporting organizations in the development of solutions to meet project application requirements.
Degree Requirement
Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Other related engineering disciplines may be considered, based on applicable industry experience.
What you need to have:
Five (5) - Ten (10) years plus experience in the oil and gas industry related to power generation and/or gas compression project applications, engineering, and operations.
Demonstrated experience in providing cross functional leadership to manage multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and soft skills are required.
Ability to read/write technical Spanish language is a plus. Willingness to travel approximately (15-25%) of the time to support both domestic and international meetings.
Nature and Scope
Possesses product and process knowledge, including capabilities and limitations of Solar’s Modular Product and Balance of Plant equipment solutions, as well as strategy related to project economics, competitor capabilities, customer requirements and industry best practices.
Provides cross functional leadership to multi discipline teams across the organization to plan, develop, and implement technical and commercial strategies necessary to successfully compete for new business opportunities. Project development requires close coordination with sales, applications engineering, project management, engineering, supply chain, fabrication/production, and other internal and external parties.
Utilizes organizations processes and tools to ensure completeness and accuracy of proposal deliverables and data that support product and/or project scope definition, execution, project planning, and delivery commitments.
Identify, assess, quantify, and ensure technical and commercial risk mitigations are considered when developing the sales strategy and proposal development. Assists Sales in internal complex project reviews and communicates risk mitigation strategies to successfully satisfy internal stake holder acceptance.
Work direction and latitude
- Would typically support development of several project opportunities of various levels of complexity.
- Requires limited supervision and/or coaching.
- Exercises considerable latitude in assessing project application and determining technical and commercial objectives.
- Acts as an individual contributor and takes initiative to request consultative support from more experienced individuals in the organization.
Liason
- Represents the Construction Services Oil and Gas Business Development organization and is the prime technical and contractual authority responsible for the proposal development of complex projects.
- Supports Sales and Application Engineering in the bid clarification process by reviewing and resolving technical matters and assessing commercial impact.
- Leads the customer discussion regarding communication of the product/project design basis, philosophy, scope definition, product features, application, and alternatives of proposed solution.
- Assists Sales in difficult and/or complex customer negotiations. Interfaces with internal management of the company as well as customers.

Summary Pay Range:
$120,299.00 - $180,449.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
