Energy Engineer

Job Summary:

Salas O’Brien is looking to fill an energy engineer position to lead and support our energy and decarbonization work on a project and portfolio level.  

Job tasks include:

• Identification, cost-benefit analysis, and further development of energy efficiency
• Sustainability and decarbonization initiatives to meet carbon reduction goals in the built environment.
• Lead decarbonization plan development through beneficial electrification and other capital upgrades/investments.

Job tasks may include:

• Evaluating energy performance and carbon reduction assessments
• Conducting ASHRAE Level II & III Energy Audits
• Performing retro-commissioning in commercial, institutional and multifamily buildings
• Managing project teams
• Developing clean energy project including scope development, energy savings calculations and cost estimating
• Conducting technical energy efficiency measure savings calculations and economic analyses
• Conducting building energy simulation and thermal load analysis
• Presenting project results to various stakeholders including client executives

The ideal candidate should:

• Have at least 5 years of experience in energy auditing, retro-commissioning and energy analysis
• Have demonstrated experience in energy auditing, retro-commissioning and decarbonization
• Be a licensed professional with a bachelor's degree in engineering
• Knowledge of New York City Local Laws, including 84, 87, & 97
• Have energy industry related certifications
• Have experience with large commercial buildings including healthcare, higher education and K-12 schools
• Have strong analytical, technical, writing and presentation skills
