About the Department

The Kent County Friend of the Court is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our audit team as an Account Clerk I. This position plays a key role in providing auditing, bookkeeping, and accounting support to the department. The ideal candidate thrives under deadlines, takes pride in accuracy, and approaches their work with professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audit and reconcile child support and spousal support financial records
  • Balance Michigan child support accounts with other state, tribal, and foreign support orders
  • Prepare Affidavits of Arrears
  • Respond to credit reporting inquiries
  • Contact employers and calculate bonus provisions in child support and spousal support orders

Our mission at the Kent County Friend of the Court is to serve the Court and the families of Kent County to ensure that children are supported—both financially and emotionally. We enforce child support, custody, and parenting time orders, monitor accounts, and prepare recommendations for the Court.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED combined with six months of accounting or bookkeeping experience or an Associate’s degree in accounting or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer literacy and detail-oriented analytical skills are essential.
