SUMMARY/ JOB DESCRIPTION
Become a member of TWB's Monroe, Michigan team as a Transportation Team Lead reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. This salaried role is responsible for providing on-time delivery, load coverage and fulfillment, customer service, and team direction. This person will handle the day-to-day activities of the department and will be responsible for coverage (vacation and sick) to ensure daily operations of the Monroe facility. They will need to build relationships with internal and external customers, carriers, and facilitate the processes and provide solutions and/or options. The Transportation Team Lead meets transportation metrics and will collect and share market intelligence and actively participate in all formal /informal training provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily huddle meetings to review metric performance, key loads, and serve as thought partner on solutions.
- Serve as second level for resolutions of daily issues. First level is coordinator, and third level is managers.
- Develop the team with skills, knowledge and talents to be high performing.
- Promote a positive work environment, aligning the culture of the Transportation team with our Philosophy to drive excellence.
- Give guidance and recommendations on coverage for loads.
- Work with Business Analyst to provide information on negotiations and rates.
- Utilize market knowledge to determine agreed pricing for lanes or loads.
- Monitor and coach performance expectations.
- Provide input and guidance on decision making and problem solving.
- Serve as the primary source for order expedites resolution.
- Build relationships with internal and external customers and plants.
- Manage payments and web resolution of issues.
- Complete and file trade documents.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of Shipping and Receiving experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with dispatching and scheduling trucks
- Team approach on activities
- Ability to maintain and grow business relationships with key carriers and customers
- Coaching utilizing and promoting the Worthington philosophy
- Good communications skills
- Well-Rounded knowledge of business lines and market intelligence
- Problem Solving with team approach
- Solid Computer Skills - Microsoft Office
