Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and analyze property and commercial casualty risks, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and practices. Product mix is generally workers compensation, automobile liability, general liability, property, and umbrella.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with private equity dedicated brokers, agents, and clients to drive business expansion and maintain a strong market presence.
- Assess risks, determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms for property and casualty products, and make competitive and sustainable underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk management, seamless operations, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
- Stay informed about market trends and industry developments to ensure competitive positioning and informed underwriting decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CPCU, ARM) is advantageous.
- 5 years of experience in Property and Casualty underwriting, with a proven track record of successful risk assessment and portfolio management.
- Knowledge of the Private Equity marketplace, inclusive of general PE operating models, diligence process, and insurance related activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in pricing and underwriting within the commercial casualty insurance segment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to operate in limited underwriting information environment along with short lead times for quoting activity.
- Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Excess experience is preferred.
