Introduction

 

We are looking for high-caliber undergraduate or graduate students in Mathematics, Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or other related fields who are interested in learning about primary market related activities as well as any secondary market-related activites.

 

You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a multi-cultural team, comprised of professionals with varied backgrounds who are dedicated to the daily activities of a Syndication Desk primarily.

 

Teamworking, problem solving and analytical skills are what we are looking for in our new colleagues.

 

The Syndication Intern position will support the Head of the Syndication Desk and other members of the Department in performing administrative and analytical tasks  to include timely maintenance of internal databases, preparation of market reports and memos, for both internal and external consumption, collection, compilation and analysis of market data aimed to support the execution of any pitches or activity in the primary market as well as assist the desk in any secondary market activity. Additional tasks on top of the ones listed below may be added based on  ongoing skill assessment and learning progression of the candidate.

Activities

 

  • Assist with maintaining accurate and updated internal database of in market syndicated transactions for internal use
  • Track and maintain proper P&L records for the department
  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage the league table ranking process
  • Maintain accurate syndication files for agented deals, deals sourced and secondary loan trades
  • Assist with the closing and settlement process on secondary trades
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the cyclical (weekly/monthly) reporting requirements for H/O
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials to be used in the "pitching" process with existing or potential clients
  • Assist in the preparation of the documentation required for underwriting under our OTS policy.
  • Participate in the preparation of the weekly newsletters for internal distribution

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Banking, Finance, or Business Administration/ an MBA or Master Degree Program in Banking and / or Finance;
  • Some knowledge of financial instruments and debt capital markets are a must
  • Prior training and knowledge of the loan syndication market, including structuring, distribution and closing phases, is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of commercial, corporate and investment banking products.
  • General knowledge of credit/financial analysis.
  • Some knowledge of legal documentation.
  • Some practical knowledge on how to navigate and use Bloomberg, LPC, Dealogic, DebtDomain, SalesForce and ClearPar is a plus.
  • Computer literacy particularly in Excel, Word and PowerPoint with excellent navigation skills are a pre-requisite.

 

Distinct advantage would be:

 

  • Knowledge of, or previous experience supporting traditional financial and international deals.
  • Previous internship in an International bank.

Selection

 

The selection process is divided into two stages. You will take an interview with the Recruiting & Assessment Center team, that evaluates your soft skills. Those who pass this first step will receive an invitation for a technical interview with the relevant Division. Each candidate will receive feedback, regardless of the result.
