Job Summary: We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of work experience in small business lending or finance, with a preference for experience in 7(a) lending. This role requires strong organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work hard to deliver results. As an experienced team member, you will be expected to set an example and mentor junior team members on best practices. Description & Responsibilities:
- Determine loan feasibility and lender creditworthiness
- Perform analysis for loan requests and submit timely completion of credit review for new and renewing loans
- Prepare and present loan requests to credit managers
- Mentor loan processors and junior underwriters
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support conversion and increase revenue
- Manage borrower relationships and actively ensure a positive customer experience
- Maintain excellent professionalism in performance, accountability
- Identify new opportunities and ideas to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Compensation: Base Salary $70,000 - $90,000 + Production Incentives
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field
- 2-5 years of underwriting experience, specifically in small business lending or SBA 7(a) loans
- Proficiency in financial mathematics, including cash flow analysis, tax return review, and financial statement analytics
- Experience using Microsoft Suite, including SharePoint, Teams, OneNote, and Excel
- Comfortable in dynamic, high-volume environments
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to mentor peers and collaborate closely with other team members
- Intensely driven to produce outcomes aligned with the Company’s strategic objective
- Entrepreneurial, willingness to take on challenges outside of the immediate job description
- Comfortable in a high-volume, high-pressure environment, available to work long hours when needed
- Familiar with using HubSpot or other CRMs preferred
- Understanding of SBA SOPs preferred
