Job Summary

The Head Athletic Coach reports to the Athletic Director, who reports to the school Principal. The Head Coach is responsible for workout programs, conditioning, and initiating various aspects of the sports program, such as recruiting, scheduling opponents, training, and coaching team members; is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (NCS/CIF), the Bay Area Conference League (BACL) and the Emery Unified School District (EUSD); is an expert on the rules, strategies and techniques of the sport; must know about sports equipment, physical fitness and safety; must work closely with individuals and groups, developing ability by identifying needs, planning, and implementing suitable training programs; instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The role demands good interpersonal skills, a strong interest in helping others to succeed, and a strong focus on student academic success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that aligns with the EUSD guiding principles.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid California Driver’s License • Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification • Must follow EUSD and ESS rules, policies, and regulations. • Knowledge of overall operation of an athletic program. • Physical ability to lift, move and support, without assistance, up to 60 pounds on a continuous basis for short periods of time according to established procedures. • Must be extremely organized and able to develop a long term plan to build a quality program ethically. • Must possess leadership skills and the ability to motivate and mentor students and adults on and off the field. • Communication without the use of profanity or derogatory terms is essential. • EUSD Fingerprint and Tuberculosis clearances as required by law. • Possess negative TB test within the last 12 months

Salary Info

Stipends paid at the end of each sports season.
