The Role

We’re seeking a motivated and organised Junior Legal Counsel (1–3 PQE) to join our London-based legal team. You’ll work with the legal team and stakeholders across the business to help deliver growth against ambitious targets (>doubling each year) and support YouLend’s operations in the UK, US and Europe.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of a variety of legal matters that are essential to YouLend’s business growth and operations.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support the drafting, structuring and negotiation of YouLend’s strategic partnerships with global companies (such as Amazon, Dojo, eBay, Mollie, Paysafe and Shopify), including participating in RFP and term sheet processes.
  • Advise on existing and new capital markets mandates, including drafting and analysing complex documentation.
  • Support the product and operations teams on existing products and new product launches, ensuring legal soundness and regulatory compliance.
  • Help design and implement scalable legal processes across geographies to support business efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel across the UK, EU and US to ensure YouLend’s regulatory compliance.
  • Support business teams with timely and practical legal advice, balancing commercial needs with legal risk.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives within the legal team, identifying opportunities to drive efficiency, automation and best practice.

The ideal Candidate will have the following skillset:

  • 1-3 years’ post-qualification experience gained at a reputable law firm or in-house (ideally within fintech, financial services or a high-growth tech company).
  • Solid understanding of commercial and corporate law, with an eagerness to expand your knowledge base.
  • A keen interest in the legal and regulatory aspects of fintech and YouLend’s products.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex matters concisely.
  • Adaptability and willingness to roll sleeves up and get involved with all parts of the business.
  • A proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership over your work.
  • Desire for a broad variety of work.
  • A solutions-oriented attitude with strong planning and organisational skills.
  • A fast-learning approach and intellectual curiosity to understand evolving products and

Desirable Skills:

  • A 2:1 level (or equivalent) degree in law.
  • Worked on across cross-border transactions.
  • Experience in working with other jurisdictions (e.g., the US and other EU countries).
