Torbay Council's Corporate Safety team is responsible for the effective management of Health and Safety across the wide ranging activities undertaken by the organisation. This includes the delivery of public services, waste, asset management and education. Working as part of a highly motivated and effective team you will be involved in all aspects of effective H&S management from policy to incident investigation, training and wellbeing.

This level 3 apprenticeship in Health, Safety and Environment is based at Torbay Council's Town Hall, with 1 day a fortnight on site at Exeter college and a further day online.

Your apprenticeship at Torbay Council will give you the opportunity to develop high level investigative and risk management skills, together with the knowledge to deliver policy and training programmes. This is also a great opportunity to use cutting edge electronic systems for data collection, trend management and report presentation.

This post meets the requirements of the Public Services Network (PSN) and therefore will require a Basic Criminal Record Check.  This will show any unspent convictions and conditional cautions.

Skills

Essential:
  • Effective communication.
  • Effective organisational skills.
  • Ability to see tasks through to a successful conclusion to ensure objectives and deadlines are met.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

Essential:
  • Ability to use a range of standard IT packages. 

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:
  • Experience of working in a team through paid or voluntary work, or through education.
  • GCSE in Maths and English at Grade 4 - 9 (or equivalent).
