Job Description:
Quality & Food Safety Scientist is the primary R&D partner (the "face of R&D") for the supply led Value Stream, developing and driving the strategic quality agenda and leading the implementation and governance of all Q&FS requirements.
As a key partner to the VS and site success, this role exists to support delivery of the Slough site CBN "Proudly making chocolate and our future" and the KPIs which support this - specifically RFT (Right First Time).
Location: Slough, UK, full-time on-site 5/2
Salary: £42,300 - £51,500 (depending on the knowledge & experience), annual bonus, benefits
What are we looking for?
Degree in Chemistry / Chem Eng / Microbiology / Food Technology / other relevant technical discipline / science
Several sonsistent years (5+ years) of experience in Food Manufacturing
Experience in root cause analysis and risk assessment.
Preferred: experience of quality and food safety in a food manufacturing facility where scientific principles have been practically applied.
Preferred: Technical depth and detailed knowledge of Quality Management (Food Microbiology, Food Safety and Hygiene).

What will be your key responsibilities?
Leadership
Primary R&D partner for the VS, responsible for the quality agenda in the value stream (development, coordination, management and implementation)
Challenge the status quo: drive any required quality improvement in the value stream - related to Incident management and continuous Improvement
Champion, challenge and support the implementation standards of our global Q&FS standards onto our factory lines
R&D lead in value stream FMOS meetings through escalation forums and quality reviews
Consultation on capital and asset health check projects in the value stream
Support and formal cover for the site Q&FS manager as needed (In key FMOS forums and with Incident management)
Product Quality & Food Safety Incident and Trouble Shooting
First line Q&FS incident management (PRIMP Process) including handling escalations to Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory experts - acting as incident owner and coordinator until RA1, escalating to RA2
Support value stream in recovery program following an incident (flush plans, sampling, etc.)
Lead level 2 trouble shooting on quality issues (visual and physical product quality). Facilitates problem solving sessions, building on operational RCA and supports identification and execution of counter measures to facilitate the line returning to established process SRCs. Supporting escalation to level 3 (Factory Innovation) if no root cause or technical solution is identified
Accountable for managing an effective corrective / preventative action plan, including verification of effective implementation and verification of root cause analysis for value stream CAPAs
Support consumer & customer complaints investigation and follow up / action plan within the value stream
Lead and own S-CAPA process on site for any Issues with raws and packaging within the VS
QMS
Coordinate QMS in the value stream (CAPAs, internal audits, continuous improvement, document creation & control, concessions)
Contribute to the food safety programe within the value stream, including achieving compliance with any required external standards (e.g. FSSC 22000)
Own and lead HACCP for the value stream, including full ownership of all documentation and facilitation of a successful HACCP review
Change management
Consulted for line trial risk assessments & endorsement of line trial/ raw material exception test forms prior to approval by the site Q&FS manager
Support Asset Health Check (AHC) process with Q&FS inputs
Represent R&D at project handover meetings prior to approval by site Q&FS manager
