A Day in the Life

Job Summary: The Associate Calibration Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement and test equipment used in manufacturing, research, and development processes. This role involves performing calibrations, maintaining calibration records, troubleshooting equipment issues, developing calibration methods, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
•Perform calibration and verification of measurement and test equipment in accordance with established procedures and industry standards.
•Maintain and update calibration records and documentation to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
•Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment performance issues.
•Develop and improve calibration processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
•Lead internalization project across sites and develop calibration methods
•Monitor and manage the calibration schedule to minimize downtime and ensure timely completion of calibrations.
•Support internal and external audits by providing calibration data and documentation.
•Participate in training sessions to stay updated on industry best practices and calibration techniques.
•Train calibration technicians on calibration methods and activities

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
•Basic knowledge of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025).
•Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Familiarity with calibration software and tools is a plus.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
•Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace) is an advantage.
•Certification in calibration or metrology (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician) is an advantage.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A), 0 years of experience required.
