Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity for you, an enthusiastic and highly motivated self-starter, to make a significant contribution to our Technical Claims Unit. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting with the daily activities which include the development, coordination, all new claims initiatives, with an emphasis on Property.

Summary of Role & Responsibilities:

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on all property claims matters

  • Identify and communicate emerging risks and trends to Sr. Claims and Underwriting Management

  • Actively participate or lead property claims initiatives, including vendor management and process improvements (Guidewire, NPS, after-hours program, estimating platforms)

  • Investigate, evaluate, and settle complex property claims requiring a high level of technical expertise.

  • Represent the Company at Examinations for Discovery, Mediations, Pre-trials, and Trials

  • Provide instruction and direction to external vendors on files (i.e.: contractors, consultants, engineering investigation firms, solicitors)

  • Prepare Major Loss/Reinsurance Reports on files and participate in the Claims Committee process

  • Develop, co-ordinate and facilitate both field and in-office training

  • Assist Adjusters, Team Leaders, and Claims Management in the file handling and file reviews from a technical perspective

  • Assist in the recruitment and management of new hires

  • Develop and document Claims procedures and guidelines

  • Participate in ensuring our compliance with IBC, FSRA, other government bodies and regulations

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of property claims adjusting experience with a solid background in both commercial and personal lines

  • Field claims experience a must

  • Strong working knowledge of restoration/reconstruction estimating and estimating software platforms

  • Knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, including reinsurance reporting

  • University or College degree

  • Enrollment in or completion of the CIP (FCIP) Designation

  • IICRC Master Restorer / RIA advanced designations

  • Valid "G class" Driver's License required (*will be required to provide Driver's Abstract)
