Job Duties/Functions:
Responsible for assisting in the operation and promotion of an onsite musculoskeletal rehabilitation clinic (RehabWorks) that is staffed by BOC Certified and Florida Licensed Athletic Trainers. Acts as program lead for the Athletic Training (AT) Immersive Clinical Experience (ICE). Promotes injury prevention in the workplace through educational outreach programs. Assists in outreach programs and interventions with NASA Safety and KSC Ergonomics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate, treat, rehabilitate and recondition musculoskeletal injuries, illnesses and general medical conditions.
2. Develop, implement and progress patient’s rehabilitation and reconditioning protocol.
3. Maintain professionalism and integrity at all times and provide for the highest level of patient confidentiality and sensitivity during the patient care process.
4. Follow standard operating procedures/standard of care defined as the recognition, management and referral of conditions and the rehabilitation and reconditioning of conditions (including the use of therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercise) whose tasks and functions must be permissible by law.
5. Able to complete all Federal, NASA and NEMCON required training and certifications
6. Provide virtual telehealth services and patient home exercise programs to the KSC workforce.
7. Provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services to astronaut prime crew, families and support personnel as part of NASA/KSC Aerospace Medicine Team.
8. Assist in injury prevention initiatives for NASA/KSC and NASA/Agency Ergonomics Programs
9. Ensure quality patient documentation and data entry in RehabWorks electronic medical record (EMR).
10. Coordinate and communicate patient care with referring physicians, case managers, workers’ compensation representatives, safety and/or management personnel as needed.
11. Act as the Clinical Experience Coordinator for the RehabWorks Internship Program including, but not limited to promotion, interview, selection and supervision of students, outreach and site visit activities.
12. Produce content for the RehabWorks web page including, but not limited to educational articles and video clips, downloadable pamphlets, basic rehabilitation protocols and injury prevention topics.
13. Conduct in-person and virtual educational and professional outreach programs.
Requirements
Education/Training:
1. Minimum BS degree in Athletic Training (AT) from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE); Masters in Athletic Training (or in a related field of study) preferred
2. Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as an athletic trainer in a clinical/occupational setting preferred
3. Preceptor with proven history of success with various CAATE accredited AT programs
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
1. Certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC)
2. Licensed to practice Athletic Training in the State of Florida
3. National Provider Identifier (NPI)
4. Basic Cardiac Life Support with AED and First Aid certification.
5. Proficient in written, verbal and computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Planner)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Extensive knowledge of musculoskeletal injury assessment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries, illnesses and general medical conditions using the applications of therapeutic exercise, modality devices and manual techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including in-person and online presentation skills
- Ability to analyze data and metrics into actionable patient/employee interventions
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Previous ergonomic and/or occupational health experience is a plus
- Knowledge of OSHA Recordability and worker’s compensation a plus
Working Conditions:
Must be flexible in staffing the Rehab Works Clinic during hours of operation.
Must thrive in a team atmosphere and effectively work with all levels of employees. General office environment may require minor lifting and bending.
Complies with all company safety policies and site-specific safety procedures. Participates in and supports the NEMCON safety program. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Identifies potential hazards, concerns, and safety incidents and reports to supervisory personnel.
