A lovely family near Woodbridge High School is seeking a part-time caregiver for their 83-year-old father, with an immediate start. Care is needed long-term, Monday through Friday, from 1pm to 6pm. The client is more introverted and is still adjusting to receiving care, often taking time to warm up to new people. He is showing signs of dementia, and the family is currently awaiting a formal diagnosis. He weighs approximately 100 lbs. and requires assistance with under-the-arm transfers (in and out of bed, to the restroom, etc.). The client values routine and benefits from caregivers who are consistent and patient. The ideal candidate will be encouraging, reliable, and attentive to changes in medical condition, while fostering a sense of trust and companionship.

- Length of position: Ongoing
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1pm-6pm
- Compensation: $15 per hour
Responsibilities
- Hygiene assistance
- Wheelchair and bed transfers
- Engaging the client in conversation and activities (e.g., Bible study)
- Light housekeeping (client’s room, laundry, linens)
- Preparing meals (breakfast and lunch)
- Encouraging regular eating and hydration
- Monitoring vitals
- Medication reminders
Requirements
- 2 years of paid, professional caregiving experience
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to become certified)
- Able to provide two care-related references
- Willing to complete a background and social media screening
- Experience with veterans and/or dementia care is a plus
- Physically able to assist with lifting up to 100 lbs.
