Aquatics Maintenance Specialist chez City of Burleson, TX

PRIMARY DUTY:

Under the general supervision of the BRiCk Recreation Manager, the Aquatics Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of aquatic facility systems and equipment. Duties include water quality testing, filtration and chemical system monitoring, cleaning, and minor facility repair to ensure a safe, clean, and functional aquatic environment for patrons and staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not supervise staff but may assist in guiding seasonal or part-time workers on maintenance tasks.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of pool operations, including pumps, filters, and chemical feed systems.

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.

• Ability to handle and apply chemicals safely.

• Knowledge of water testing procedures and safe chemical ranges.

• Ability to interpret schematics and equipment manuals.

• Effective problem-solving and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies.

• Physical ability to perform demanding labor in indoor and outdoor environments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Two years of experience in facility or pool maintenance preferred.

• Experience working with commercial pool systems strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification required within 6 months of hire.

• CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of hire.

• Valid Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
