- Perform housekeeping tasks (e.g., removal of all debris such as leaves, paper, and litter, etc.).
- Prepare athletic fields according to all policies, regulations, and provisions of State of Ohio Sports’ Medicine, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and conference/league rules.
- Learn operation and maintenance procedures for all grounds keeping equipment. Keeps current with advances in equipment technology.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to prevent premature equipment failure (e.g., fluid levels, lubrication, fans, belts, fittings, etc.).
- Perform regular inspections of grounds/custodial/ maintenance equipment to ensure safe operating conditions. Report damaged equipment to the Maintenance Department.
- Assist other custodians, when necessary.
- Assist maintenance two person, when necessary.
- Requisition and maintain an inventory of supplies necessary for routine grounds keeping activities.
- Verify district activity schedules to find out if a program or special event requires preparation on subsequent clean up.
- Perform the duties of a project coordinator for new construction and/or renovation of the district’s buildings, grounds, or equipment. Ensure that district renovations comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations (e.g., blood borne pathogens exposure control plans, hazard communication standards program, asbestos abatement programs, etc.). Oversee environmental issues compliance.
- Interpret and comply with all fire, health, and safety regulations.
- Serve as designated person for asbestos management.
- Responsible for regular inspections and proper repair of asbestos in all buildings.
- Organize and provide for the safe storage of all supplies, materials, and equipment. Ensure all hazardous materials are properly labeled.
- Oversee and execute a preventive maintenance program for the preservation of the buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Assist the Superintendent and Director of Buildings and Grounds with the development of long and short range maintenance plans.
- Ensure the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Clean, repair, lubricate, and store mowing equipment at the end of the season.

- Prepare and maintain an annual equipment inventory. Maintain an inventory of materials needed for routine maintenance activities. Requisition other materials on an “as needed” basis.
- Coordinate the ordering of building supplies.
- Perform regular inspections of HVAC and boilers to ensure systems are operating correctly. Have boilers prepared for annual inspection. Monitor building structures and roofs, plumbing and electrical systems, sanitary conditions, and equipment. Ensure deficiencies are corrected for safe occupancy of the building and grounds. Accompany inspectors on building tours.
- Assist the Director of Buildings and Grounds/Superintendent with securing and evaluating work performed by outside contractors.
- Be “on call” to respond to building emergencies at any hour as requested by the Superintendent and/or his or her designee.
- Recommend equipment purchases and replacements to maintain efficient and effective building operations.
- Receive questions, requests, and complaints. Attend to such matters promptly and tactfully. Encourage suggestions from staff and the public, when appropriate.

Job Objective: Coordinate and facilitate the effective delivery of maintenance and
custodial services for the school district.
Salary $19.77 - $21.85 (Salary is comensurate with experience)
School year: 40 hours per week – Monday - Friday from 7:00a.m. – 3:30p.m. Note: Notification is hereby provided to any applicant that the hours remain subject to change based upon the District
need from time-to-time.
Summer: Work will be shifted according to District needs.
