Senior Health and Safety Business
Specialist Scope The Health and Safety Directorate (HSD) Senior Health and Safety Business Specialist will be responsible to lead, along with HSD leadership, the modernization of HSDs business models, identify innovation opportunities and efficiency measures to simplify and modernize internal business processes. This role requires significant skills and experience in technology and digitalization as factors that enable innovation and business transformation. The individual will work with the Operations and Administration Team, and within it the Data analytics team, and with stakeholders within all HSD Units, and with partners throughout the WBG to drive the maturation level of HSD’s business processes and technology infrastructure to enable data-driven programming, and service delivery. The Senior Health and Safety Business Specialist. role includes working with HSD teams to understand the need for business process transformation, create, maintain, and enhance the inclusion of innovative solutions, with a goal of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of HSD services, enhance the client interfaces and interactions, support technological growth, data collection and analytics efforts, improve the understanding and management of patient/client data, improve the capability for occupational health and safety risk management, and improve the management and analysis of data. The position will require a deep practical understanding of the WBG’s global health service delivery, ideally gained through work in an international development organization with a strong presence across developing countries. This grounding is vital for understanding HSDs business needs and ways in which it can be updates and modernized as technology advances. Additional skills in process optimization, stakeholder alignment, and change management are required to work with HSDs specialized health safety and wellbeing staff to deeply understand and redesign business and work processes to increase effectiveness and ensure that new ways of working are successfully embedded in practices. The selected candidate will have mastery over Technology and Digital Fluency, knowledge that enables the application of new technologies and digital approaches to enhance health safety and wellbeing service delivery, e.g. better leveraging data, AI, and automation. This position will be one that brings forward innovative approaches for HSD, which may need to be implemented in collaboration with ITS. This role will not be responsible for managing technology solutions or vendors, which will remain an ITS responsibility. Duties 1. Lead feasibility analysis for new HSD business informed ideas and innovative solutions, including understanding implications for the current and future needs of HSD. • Contribute to the development of long-term plans and infrastructural re-design of HSD services and systems in the area(s) supported, factoring in an understanding of future directions of the business area as well as changes in the technology landscape. 2. Lead in HSDs transformation from legacy based file systems to processes supported or replaced by modern solutions and services. Responsible for the design and review of how HSD products and processes can be changed, using new technologies to improve performance, creating new practices, or fundamentally changing the way services are delivered. The role should highlight how HSD can improve value, efficiency, and innovation across HSDs functional units. • Lead HSDs business model development and enhancements through an assessment of available systems ,and established frameworks. 3. Serve as HSDs focal point with ITS on managing system enhancement and maintenance of HSD business solutions. • Monitor the operating efficiency of existing solutions and arrange for proactive maintenance within HSDs systems. 4. Address unusual and non-recurring problems that have unique and/or broad implications for HSD’s business solutions and service delivery via technological and digital platforms. Manage user training of new business platforms, working with internal WBG and HSD teams to develop materials to support user training on new or enhanced solutions. 5. In cooperation with HSD Strategy and Operation Team members, as well as with HSD”s Knowledge Management technical expert, play a key role in the management of HSD’s overall Vendor Risk Management Activities with: o Data Privacy Office (DPO) 6. Provide technical support and guidance for all procurement activities that involve business related platforms and systems including the processing of WBG / IMF patient – client data, to include Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), contract extensions, contract renewals, and new contracts for existing vendors.
• Support institutional and HSD-internal efforts to integrate AI into business processes, and identify tools, products, and applications to advance HSDs service delivery models through assessing the business process and seeking innovative solutions for such processes.
• Coordinate with WBG stakeholders and partner with ITS to successfully deliver a solution in compliance with business needs, information security, data privacy, system design, and user experience standards.
• Serve as the HSD focal point for ITS on the design and implementation of IT projects serving HSD.
• Additional implementation tasks include:
o Creating process workflows, setting up data feeds, requirements gathering, performing quality assurance and user acceptance testing, and providing guidance on HSDs internal analytical solutions and coordination with HSDs Data team.
• Oversee daily operational support for internal systems with HDSs functional units
• Coordinate within HSD, and with ITS teams and their vendors to resolve IT solution issues.
• Maintain awareness of projects or changes to other systems that may affect their applications/systems and ensure there is no degradation of service.

Selection Criteria
• Master's level degree with 8 years relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years relevant experience. Competencies • Deliver Results for Clients: Develops and implements solutions that show understanding of how clients and/or own work achieves results that are financially, environmentally, and socially sustainable; Shares new insights based on in-depth understanding of the client and recommends solutions for current and future needs of clients. Familiarity and experience working across business units collaborate and maximize problem solving skills within the context of HSDs internal and external business partners. • Recent and detailed knowledge and experience of HSDs processes and organization would be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Awareness and familiarity and competency in discussing and engaging with Artificial Intelligence tools and approaches to foster and drive HSDs process efficiency and delivery across all functional units.
• Demonstrated experience of technical knowledge of IT systems implementation and maintenance and support.
• Demonstrated experience with quality assurance and user acceptance testing
• Demonstrated experience with multi-stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated experience with client – vendor relations.
• Demonstrated experience with vendor risk management in the areas of procurement, data privacy, and information security.
• Knowledge of User Experience (UX) principles and best practices .
• Experience managing project budgets.
• Experience in Design Thinking Methodology desirable.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English.
