SUMMARY:
The School Nutrition Warehouse Manager performs work involving receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing materials and supplies for a central storage warehouse having a large volume of materials and supplies and distribution activities. Tasks require some physical labor in the loading and unloading of goods received and to be delivered. Work is routine and directed by established procedures with instructions provided for new and unusual assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Oversees deliveries and pickups to insure quality and quantity of products.
- Checks perpetual inventory regularly.
- Loads and unloads materials and supplies using available hand trucks and front-end loaders.
- Maintains inventory records and tracking system.
- Determines appropriate places for storage.
- Rotates stock as needed.
- Monitors activities in the warehouse to ensure proper recording of outgoing materials.
- Adjusts inventory levels to reflect receipts and disbursements.
- Transports goods from warehouse storage to sites and site to site
- Oversees the summer feeding distribution program maintaining positive relationships with the community.
- Check the function of child nutrition equipment (freezers, refrigerators, etc.)
- Oversee the function of child nutrition equipment and movement of goods during weather related events/outage.
- Attend trainings provided by the USDA and School Nutrition
- Assist in the process of ordering food and supplies for the schools.
- Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of training or experience in inventory management or warehouse operations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License with a passenger and air brake endorsement required for mechanics.
- ServeSafe certification is highly recommended.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of efficient warehousing practices.
- Considerable knowledge of the warehousing organization, policies, and operating procedures to include functions relating to inventory and stock control procedures, record keeping and reporting of assets and inventory.
- Considerable knowledge of paperwork associated with warehouse deliveries.
- Considerable knowledge of local and state laws, regulations and policies regarding purchasing and warehouse maintenance.
- Considerable knowledge of warehouse fire and safety codes.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration.
- General knowledge of maintenance required for warehouse equipment, child nutrition equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to maintain records, logs and reports.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness of the warehouse.
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writings.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
- Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics of data, people or things.
- Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, logs, lists, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, lists, etc. using prescribed formats.
- Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including forklifts, pallet jacks, flat boards, dollies, etc. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 50 to 100 pounds.
