PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining systems and networks. In particular, this position participates in the planning, organization, and implementation of the activities related to the installation, configuration, and maintenance of local and wide area networks, Wi-Fi, and peripheral equipment district-wide; participates in the installation, maintenance, and modification of wiring and equipment; develops and implements cybersecurity practices and preventative measures to maintain the stability and reliability of network systems. Additionally, the Network Coordinator supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Technology and Information Services
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: System & Network Administration: Install, configure, operate, maintain, and repair computer, network, hosted, and IP-based communication/security systems. Administer and maintain servers, domains, policies, firewalls, email accounts, internet connectivity, web filters, and hosted applications. Monitor and assess performance of networks, servers, and workstations to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Configure, test, update, and troubleshoot operating systems, applications, and hardware. Monitor and maintain system security; apply patches, run updates, inspect logs, and resolve security and performance issues. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Inspect, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, network, Wi-Fi, VoIP, and IP-based system issues. Provide field support and technical assistance to staff; prioritize and schedule requests for major outages. Install, configure, and repair peripherals, access points, routers, switches, printers, phones, cameras, and cabling. Support district webinars, livestreams, and audio/visual systems. Planning & Development: Assist with the development and updates of the District Technology Plan. Contribute to standards for hardware/software use, project prioritization, and purchasing guidelines. Participate in planning, organization, and implementation of technology projects district-wide. Research, test, and recommend new echnologies, systems, software, and equipment. Support annual operating and capital budgets; identify cost-cutting and e-rate opportunities. Inventory & Resource Management: Estimate materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements for support activities. Maintain inventory levels; order and track parts, equipment, and software licenses. Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and files related to assigned activities. Curate and manage information, tools, and resources for technology projects with the Director of Technology. Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate activities with administrators, contractors, consultants, and vendors. Provide recommendations on system and equipment purchases aligned with district objectives. Advise administrators of problems and recommend corrective actions. Professional Growth & Knowledge: Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and training to remain current with technological advances. Maintain knowledge of instructional technology trends to inform future system development. General Duties: Respect confidentiality of student, staff, and organizational matters. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Demonstrated leadership, motivation, and communication skills, with qualities including integrity, attention to detail, timeliness, flexibility, and goal orientation. Experience in software development across multiple programming languages, with emphasis on software interoperability between systems. Strong background in database development, including designing and executing complex SQL queries. Expertise in communication protocols (e.g., routing, switching) across computing systems and telecommunications. Experience integrating with telecom providers across diverse transmission mediums. Advanced knowledge of installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting of directory service servers and web application servers. Proficiency in data migration between servers and across database platforms. Familiarity with current and emerging enterprise IT technologies and their applications. Knowledge of IT management ethodologies, including project planning, business process management, service level agreements, service catalogs, plans of record, and enterprise architecture. Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, including executive leadership. Experience: Two years of experience in software development; System, Network Administration; System, Network design, and architecture experience; and/or Industry standard System or a related field. Education: AA or BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent experience is required. Ability to: Research and solve complex issues independently with a strong technical aptitude. Develop strategic plans. Lead, manage, coach, and develop both technical and non-technical staff. LICENSE: Valid California driver’s license, which would preclude driving on the job, is a continuous requirement. Evidence of insurability.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office working environment subject to sitting at a desk for long periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling, and pushing/pulling of file drawers, carrying and placing computer equipment, reaching in all directions, and prolonged periods of time working at a computer terminal. Tasks may include: 1. An ability to work effectively and move about in an office and travel to local areas. 2. Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to work up to an eight-hour shift under sometimes- stressful conditions, with frequent distractions and interruptions. 3. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to an 8-hour shift (with the exception of breaks and lunch) 4. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an intermittent basis. 5. Sufficient mobility to enter/exit a vehicle and drive to various locations. 6. Sufficient mobility to lift, carry, bend, stoop, push/pull, stand and walk to install, repair, and transport technology equipment. 7. Sufficient hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to use a wide variety of office and technology equipment, to keyboard and write, file, and maintain records. 8.
