Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention

Position Summary
The Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to attract, recruit, and retain qualified candidates. This role works closely with HR staff and leadership to meet staffing goals and reduce employee turnover. The coordinator ensures a positive candidate and employee experience throughout the hiring and employment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment
- Coordinate and manage full-cycle recruitment efforts for assigned positions.
- Collaborate with HR staff and leadership to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment plans.
- Organize and attend job fairs, recruitment events, and networking opportunities.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates through proactive sourcing strategies.
- Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate the interview process.
- Maintain the applicant tracking system and ensure compliance with recruitment policies and procedures.
Retention
- Analyze turnover trends and provide data-driven recommendations to improve retention.
- Conduct stay interviews, exit interviews, and report on key themes and opportunities.
- Support onboarding and orientation programs that contribute to new employee retention.
- Promote a positive organizational culture that supports employee satisfaction and development.
General HR Support
- Maintain accurate records related to recruitment and retention activities.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures related to staffing and retention.
- Stay updated on labor market trends and best practices in recruitment and retention.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Two or more years of professional experience in human resources, talent acquisition, or a related area required (public sector or education setting preferred).
- Experience with applicant tracking systems, recruitment strategies, and employee engagement initiatives preferred.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or related HR certification is a plus.

Work Environment
The Coordinator of Recruitment and Retention will spend a majority of time attending job fairs, visiting district buildings, and engaging with external partners to support recruitment and retention initiatives. The position requires frequent interaction with candidates, staff, administrators, and community organizations, often at off-site events or school locations. The Administration Building serves as the home base for administrative tasks, meetings, and coordination with the Human Resources team. Evening or weekend hours may occasionally be required to attend recruitment events.
