As a Prequalification & Risk Management Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in evaluating and managing subcontractor risk, ensuring that only qualified and reliable partners are engaged on our projects. You’ll work closely with project teams and leadership to maintain high standards of compliance, safety, and financial stability across our subcontractor base.
Responsibilities
Subcontractor Prequalification
- Take ownership of managing the subcontractor prequalification process.
- Review and analyze subcontractor prequalification submissions including financial statements, safety records, insurance certificates, bonding capacity, and project history.
- Maintain and update the subcontractor database with current qualification statuses and documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure only qualified subcontractors are considered for bidding and contract awards.
- Develop and refine prequalification criteria and scoring models to align with company risk tolerance and project requirements.
- Conduct due diligence and background checks on new subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans for subcontractors based on predetermined criteria.
Subcontractor Default Program Management
- Administer the Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program, including enrollment, claims support, and compliance tracking.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and financial health to identify early warning signs of potential default.
- Support project teams in managing subcontractor performance issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare reports and dashboards on subcontractor risk exposure and SDI program metrics for senior leadership.
Claims Administration
- Track and monitor subcontractor claims throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with legal, project management, and subcontractor teams to assess and resolve claims.
- Maintain organized documentation of all claims, correspondence, and resolution actions.
- Support the resolution of claims by preparing summaries, timelines, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual obligations in claims handling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in subcontractor prequalification, construction risk management, or related roles.
- Familiarity with SDI programs (e.g., Zurich, Liberty Mutual) and subcontractor risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and risk indicators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, risk management software, and construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, CMiC).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience working for a General Contractor or in a construction risk consulting role a plus.
- Knowledge of construction law, insurance requirements, and bonding practices a plus.
- Certification in Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) or similar is a plus.
