ASME has an opportunity for an Intern to join our Global Public Affairs group in the Washington, DC office, where you will support our Government Relations team and the ASME Federal Fellows program.

In this role, you will work closely with the government relations team to coordinate program activities and events, including Policy Impact events, Town Halls, and Congressional Briefings. You will assist with outreach to ASME stakeholders across government, academia, and industry, support policy research and advocacy initiatives, and help manage the administrative and operational aspects of the ASME Federal Fellows program.

Additionally, you will engage with current ASME Fellows and alumni, support communications activities such as social media and newsletters, and contribute to additional programmatic or administrative needs as required.

To qualify for consideration, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university working towards a degree (Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s) with a concentration in Political Science/Government or a related discipline.

In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:

  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous assignments and projects
  • Ability to complete assignments on time and deliver quality, detail-oriented work
  • Excellent organization, analysis, and research skills
  • Event planning experience is a plus
  • Interest in Program Management
  • Progressive thinker and self-starter

This role is eligible for hybrid work arrangement, with in-person requirements. The candidate must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Washington, D.C. This is anticipated as a 3-month internship assignment and the candidate is expected to be available 20-25 hours per week. Annual base salary may vary depending on geographical location, the D.C. Metro salary range for this position is estimated between $20-22.00 per hour.
