THE TEAM
The 45+ strong Rating team headed up by Josh Myerson is divided into three principal workstreams: Occupier Rating, Landlord/Developer Rating and Rate Management.
The Occupier Rating sub-team advises some of the UK’s largest and most recognisable occupiers across retail, hospitality, leisure, logistics, healthcare, and corporate portfolios. The team’s focus is on delivering strategic advice and appeal management to minimise rate liability and identify operational efficiencies. Clients include national brands, blue-chip occupiers, and public sector bodies.
THE ROLE
The Associate will play a senior leadership role within the Occupier Rating team, managing complex client portfolios, supervising surveyors and graduates, and contributing to business development and innovation. They will act as a trusted advisor to major occupier clients, overseeing the delivery of strategic rating advice and leading appeal strategies. The role also involves mentoring, team leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration in line with the firm’s Advisory strategy.
MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Oversee delivery of occupier rating instructions across multiple portfolios.
• Provide strategic advice to key clients and act as principal contact for major occupiers.
• Lead and coordinate Check, Challenge and Appeal strategies and negotiations.
• Identify opportunities for fee growth, client development and innovation.
• Line manage and mentor senior surveyors, surveyors and graduates.
• Support partners with team planning, budgeting, and business development.
• Represent the firm at industry events, professional bodies, and client forums.
• Champion collaboration and uphold firm values of quality, integrity and inclusion.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• MRICS qualified with significant experience in rating and client leadership.
• Proven track record in managing large client portfolios and leading negotiations.
• Strategic thinker with commercial insight and client advisory expertise.
• Strong people leadership, mentoring and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to business development and firm-wide initiatives.
• Strong understanding of the rating market, CCA framework and sector trends.
