About the Role:
The Property Tax Analyst in the Specialty Services department will assist in various strategy and compliance activities for clients of the firm as assigned. Focusing on real estate valuation to provide the best services to clients.
What You’ll Do:
- Review and analyze county assessment values to evaluate equitable assessments.
- Evaluating properties to establish fair market values using internal and external sources.
- Prepare valuation analysis using the cost, income, and sales approaches to value.
- Prepare appeal and protest forms in accordance with jurisdiction deadlines.
- Communicate with county assessors to facilitate settlement at informal levels.
- As required, coordinate with third party appraisers and attorneys for high-level appeal cases.
- Prepare cost/benefit analysis and communicate with clients on appeal status and decision points.
- Develop persuasive arguments to support negotiation with assessors and tax boards.
- Calculate tax savings achieved and prepare an invoice supporting documentation.
- Maintain property tax database with key information for all client locations.
- Develop customized market research studies for clients, including real estate developers, corporate end-users, economic development organizations, and governmental entities.
- Track customized data sets for clients and provides reports and analysis as needed.
- Project and ongoing work management including consistent and accurate updates to our system.
- Assist with identifying and researching tax issues.
- Develop and/or update policies and procedures as they relate to client service.
- Complete software and training programs as required.
- Work with other department staff to provide seamless client service.
- Create new business opportunities by expanding existing client relationships, developing personal networks, and participating in new client development efforts with management.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through devices such as a telephone.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- Ability to drive, as some independent, out-of-town travel is required.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field is required.
- 1 to 5 years of experience with real estate appraisal valuation or experience using cost, income and market approaches is preferred.
- Industry experience in real estate, construction, or manufacturing is considered a plus.
- Requires reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Proficient in computer applications used, in especially Microsoft office products.
- Ability to understand financial records.
- Ability to review company documentation to complete analysis in a timely and proficient manner.
