About the Role:
The Material Handler - Forklift Operator at Opus Packaging in Indianapolis, IN plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement and storage of materials within our non-durable goods manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for safely operating forklifts to load, unload, and transport raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished goods to designated locations. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Previous experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and material handling procedures.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in non-durable goods manufacturing or packaging industries.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.

Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials throughout the facility safely and efficiently.

- Organize and store materials in designated areas, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring easy accessibility.
- Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits to support inventory accuracy and reporting.
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize material movement based on production schedules and order requirements.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
