Responsibilities
2. Provides training, education, and resources to long term care facilities, and nursing homes in the community.
3. Educates providers about vaccine schedules and works with facilities such as jails and congregate settings to implement vaccine policies and mandates in facilities with high-risk population.
4. Schedules vaccine drives and works with outreach team to schedule community events for vaccination.
5. Develops and promotes other strategies to improve vaccine coverage.
6. Verifies appropriate public health intervention is provided for vaccine-preventable diseases.
7. Tracks adverse reactions and ensure completion of the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) report.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing. Three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse, with one (1) year experience supervising exempt employees or in a specialty field.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Ability to withstand prolonged standing, walking, sitting and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
