Prepares payroll for all Nursing Department employees, and maintains accurate time and attendance records and performs other general clerical duties. These include but are not limited to the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities:- Processes payroll for nursing department employees in an effective manner.
- Creates reports necessary for payroll processing.
- Processes overtime, time owed, missed punchers, and health referral slips for sick time in a timely manner.
- Conforms to hospital policy concerning attendance and lateness
- Provides assistance to others as assigned.
- Ensures that the appropriate cost centers are charged for hours worked.
- Reviews paycheck discrepancies (present to Nurse Manager for back pay if appropriate).
- Maintains time and attendance sheets evaluating sick time, holidays, vacations time, LOA, presented information, date of hire, lateness and any other pertinent information.
- Prepares for distribution of paychecks and distributes paychecks according to policy.
- Acts as liaison between employees and other offices (i.e., Human Resources, Payroll and other Nursing areas).
- Assigns work tasks to appropriate departmental employees.
- Trains appropriate departmental employees as necessary.
- Organizes time and plans daily activities to accomplish assigned work.
- Has knowledge of time and attendance, staffing and payroll for nursing department.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Has knowledge of appropriate union contracts.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Able to calculate benefits accruals for flex and regular employees.
- Understands and utilizes KRONOS, ANSOS (nursing systems), Database Management.
- Distributes payroll checks to staff personnel verifying identification before issuance.
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Associate's degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) months of payroll experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Extreme accuracy required.
- Critical thinking and basic computer skills.
- Works as a team player.
- Demonstrates respect and professionalism in all interactions.
- Decision making and problem solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to deal with payroll issues and employees on a variety of issues.
- Possesses word processing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to see, hear, read and write English.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically demanding, high-stress environment requiring prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 35 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
- An individual in this position may be exposed to: Adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Blood and body fluids, Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), communicable diseases, chemical hazards, radiation, and repetitive motions.
- Full range of body motion, able to lift up to 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients.
- Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand and eye coordination.
- Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
- Frequently sitting at desk working on computer
- Ability to flex working hours.
