Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $135,000 annually plus bonuses. Salary will be dependent upon experience.

Summary:
Matrix Design Group is seeking a Senior Planner with federal experience. The successful candidate will have experience as a Project Manager for planning projects including project financials, budget development, invoicing, progress reports and subcontractor oversight. Additionally, the candidate should possess experience in business development including opportunity identification, proposal development, teaming agreements, interviews and interview preparation, as well as marketing efforts.
The Senior Planner is responsible for providing planning and program management services for assigned projects in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner. This position specifically covers the areas of military compatibility planning, on-base federal planning, and community planning.
Essential Functions:
- Technical Expert in Military and Defense Community Planning with the ability to self-perform technical work and consult on programs and projects in defense communities and at military installations across the country. Ability to grow and/or expand business in your area of technical expertise.
- Project and Program Management, including developing overall technical direction and program leadership, scheduling, cost estimating, project management, and client management. Must demonstrate an understanding of project management skills to ensure program success. Assemble project teams; conduct quality control; ensure deliverable quality, monitor schedules, and client satisfaction; and provide senior leadership in communications with regulatory agencies, project stakeholders, and clients.
- Marketing and Business Development, including recommending new business opportunities and growing client base through reputation, contacts, and networking; leading major proposal efforts and interviews; participating in professional associations and organizations to promote Matrix in the industry.
- Leadership, including providing senior-level mentoring and leadership to junior staff in various offices, communicating vision and motivating employees, maximizing group profitability and quality control.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning or related planning and landscape architecture field; master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience (10-15 years) with a track record of successful project management and operations.
- AICP certification required.
- 15+ years of progressive planning experience with at least 4 years in the private sector.
- Business development and marketing experience.
- Experience in the development of proposals and requests for qualifications.
- Extensive knowledge in community, land use, transportation, urban design, military, compatibility, planning policy, redevelopment planning, and general planning.
- Knowledge of DoD directives pertaining to land use planning, military missions, environmental planning and real estate policies.
- Able to travel to project/client sites and other Matrix locations.
- Must be able to obtain access to federal facilities and military installations
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
