Job Description:THE POSITION
The General Ledger Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This position involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Accounting:
- Prepare and post journal entries for payroll, accruals, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, leases, and tax provisions.
- Maintain accounting controls by following established policies and procedures.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Technical Accounting Support:
- Support reinsurance accounting and treaty maintenance activities.
- Assist with the calculation and documentation of technical reserves.
Cash & Treasury Support:
- Perform bank reconciliations and support treasury reporting processes.
- Monitor working capital movements and flag variances.
Auxiliary Accounts & Close Process:
- Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks within tight deadlines.
Analytical Accounting:
- Assist in preparing financial analysis and reports for management.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to costs, accruals, and taxes.
Risk & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Support audit requests and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Adhere to IT security and data protection policies.
Qualifications:
THE CANDIDATE
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience:
- 2–4 years of professional accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in insurance or financial services is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Experience with Oracle Financials or similar ERP systems is desirable.
- Team-oriented with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
