What You'll Be Doing:
- Direct and participate in street maintenance, repair, construction and asphalt patching/repair.
- Lead and train a crew to ensure safety and proper use of specialized equipment.
- Direct and assist in traffic control, hazardous waste disposal, and general construction projects.

Position Duties
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications is:
Three years of responsible experience as a Senior Maintenance Worker or in a similar position performing streets or related projects/facilities work.
Special Requirements:
- Valid class "C" Driver's License and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this series. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Certain positions or assignments may require the possession of or the ability to acquire a specialized motor vehicle operator's license.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs.
- California Government Code §3100 – 3109 requires that all public employees are to be declared disaster service workers and shall take and subscribe to the related oath or affirmation as required.

NOTE:
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment process for Streets Lead Worker will be placed on an eligible list for the respective classification, which will remain in effect for at least one year or until an insufficient number of candidates remain on the list.
Current City of Fullerton employees may be given preference during the testing and/or selection process.
All employment offers, including appointment offers to City of Fullerton employees, are conditional based upon the successful completion of a medical examination performed by the City's designated physician, at City expense. Medical exams are administered to assess an individual's ability to perform the physical requirements of this position. In addition, City of Fullerton employees appointed to safety sensitive classifications and all new hires will undergo a drug screen.
All new hires will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are verified with the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
All new hires, including non-regular City of Fullerton employees appointed to this position, will serve a one-year probationary period. Regular City of Fullerton employees promoted to this position will serve a six-month probationary period.
