 JOB SUMMARY:

The Operator III, Reliability (OPIIIR) reports to the team and is responsible for safely performing all tasks related to the efficient functioning of the line including operating, troubleshooting, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining equipment. The OPIIIR has a dotted line to the Equipment Reliability department and who will schedule actions to complete through the Preventative Maintenance program for their assigned line during sanitizations and project downs. The OPIIIR is a member of a High-Performance Operating Team and required to function within that team. The OPIIIR position is the first line of defense for their assigned team for equipment or process upsets.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate initiative by proactively addressing tasks and challenges without needing constant supervision, while consistently adhering to provided instructions and guidelines to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all duties.
  • Leverage advanced problem-solving and technical expertise to troubleshoot issues and optimize systems effectively.
  • Apply the non-conformity manual's guidelines to identify, document, and resolve non-conformities in processes, products, or services. Ensure compliance with quality standards by investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and preventing recurrence. Train team members on non-conformity procedures and maintain accurate records for audits.
  • Being a Team player as an OPIIIR means the employee is filling an Operator II roll on a specified Shift and specified Line by completing OPII duties, the OPIIIR will come into effect when equipment or process upsets occur. OPIIIR is the team’s first line of support to resolve line issues.
  • Fully proficient at operating and troubleshooting all CER equipment (TKW, Wrappers, etc.)
  • Fully proficient at operating and troubleshooting Pack Out equipment (Erector, Sealer, etc.)
  • Maintain good run adjustments i.e., print registration, label adjustments, substrate dimensions and folds.
  • Able to adjust the machine to achieve optimum good run settings within recipes.
  • Support continuous improvement activities.
  • Daily responsibility for performing quality checks, sampling, accurately completing daily shift production batch records, visual, finished case/pallet quality checks and area cleaning checklist.
  • Conduct initiative-taking and independent maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and training new team members.
  • Complete minor/major machine changeovers in allotted time (film, label, paper, and box sizes)
  • Communicate critical information to the oncoming shift to ensure seamless transition and clear understanding of the current production line status.
  • Rotate into any position as needed due to absences and breaks.
  • Comprehend the objectives of the operations process and implement corrective measures when these objectives are not achieved.
  • Monitor and evaluate plant and team performance metrics to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Use performance insights to optimize operations, collaborate with team members to achieve goals, and report findings to management for strategic decision-making.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential accountabilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

  • Must be an Operator II, phase 3 to qualify.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Know and understand the non-conformity manual.
  • Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a HPOT team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Required to wear PPE (including hair net, beard net, and any other as required for job)
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Flexibility to work occasional additional hours or shifts beyond regular schedule, as needed, with advance notice when possible.

  • Frequent standing
  • Frequent carrying and lifting 0-10 pounds, repetitive hand movement, reading, writing, reasoning/analyzing, and social interaction.
  • Occasional carrying and lifting 10-35 pounds, standing/walking, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder, and calculating.

Required Experience:

  • 1 year of previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task is essential
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A working knowledge of cGMP regulations and guidelines
  • Knowledge of manufacturing lines and processes
  • Good understanding of JDE in order to verify that transactions are performed correctly and assist with JDE corrections/cleanup
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
