Duties
Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of the day-to-day operation of the Goodfellow AFB fitness centers. To include, but not limited to, set up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events, tournaments, and practice games. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment. Issues sports equipment to authorized patrons. Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Teach group classes, i.e. step aerobics, Pilates, etc. as needed. Operates point of sale system; receives payment and issues change for services. Prepares cashier reports and makes daily deposits to central cashier. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures following in group activities or programs: and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of sports or fitness. Must demonstrate knowledge of utilization and operation of basic fitness equipment. Must have basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures and the ability to operate a cash register is desirable. The ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers. Must successfully complete requirements to attain a group exercise leadership certification in accordance with AFl 34-266. Must possess a current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and basic first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire. Must complete the AETC Fitness Fundamental Course within 180 days of assignment. Must successfully complete a physical Training Leader course taught by the Fitness Program manager within 120 days of assignment. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Must be able to read, speak, and write English and communicate effectively with patrons. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 background investigation.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
