State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Traffic and Safety (OOTS) is currently recruiting for a Transportation Engineer (Transportation Engineer III) in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. Position Duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.
Preferred Qualification:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Knowledge of traffic engineering principles and work zone safety practices.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, MdMUTCD, and related traffic standards and guidelines.
- Skill in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting traffic safety data.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional reports and correspondence.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with traffic analysis software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Customer service skills for engaging with the public and stakeholders.
Notes:
1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a master's degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
