Position Summary: Responsible to oversee sufficient staffing plans and execution of staffing assignments to ensure the provision of quality resident care, delivery of resident care and competency of nursing staff. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations across facility: infection prevention NHSN reporting requirements, quality of care, sufficient staffing. Responsible for the delivery of nursing care services and quality of patient services in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the operations of the Nursing Services Department and DON responsibilities in eth absence of the DON.
- Ensures delivery of nursing services to residents according to professionally recognized nursing standards of care and practices while meeting resident care and service needs
- Monitors nursing care and facility staffing plan for compliance with the federal, state and local regulations. Plans and assigns workloads to clinical nursing staff, ensures minimal staffing mandates are met
- Assist the director in managing clinical operations of Nursing Services
- Supervise the daily delivery of nursing services within the facility; monitor work of nursing staff to ensure that all prescribed medication & treatments are administered and documented
- Ensures required federal, state and local reporting is completed through mandated systems (NHSN, ESS, PBJ,etc.)
- Evaluates nursing staff performance and develops performance improvement plans in conjunction with unit managers/supervisors and HR business partners
- Completes daily and weekly quality audits
- Completes CMS and AHCA required matrix documentation ( form 802) and clinical resident rosters (form 672) to ensure survey readiness and adequate clinical staff coverage based on facility assessment and resident assessments.
- Ensures that infection disease reporting requirements are met at state and local level
- Assists in the development of Unit Managers and Supervisors
- Assist in development and implementation of educational and competency programs as necessary
- Reviews time cards, additional pay expenditures
- Participates in the selection, interviewing , hiring and termination decisions for members of the nursing staff
- Collaborates with the DON in budget preparation activities and variance reporting/management
- Maintains excellent communication with physician providers and ancillary services vendors ( pharmacy/diagnostics)
- Supports and participates in QAPI

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Licensed as an RN in the state of FL.
- Associates degree/Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 2 years in a nursing leadership position within a skilled nursing /long term care setting
