This position is responsible for the monthly and quarterly planning/forecasting and monthly variance analytics for the Supply Chain and Distribution functions. The individual will work closely with key business partners within each of these functions developing business models, providing guidance, analysis and insight as it pertains to assisting in making financial and key strategic decisions. The individual should be prepared to provide leadership, develop processes and train the organization as well as roll up your sleeves for the annual material standard costing. Understanding inventory, cycle counting, related accounting and business systems is critical to be successful.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a key member of the Global Operations Finance team responsible for Supply Chain, Inventory, Distribution & Freight finance
- Ability to understand variances to actual results in the cost of goods sold area of the P&L specifically in relation to standard costing and PPV as well as have a strong handle on inventory, freight and distribution finance.
- Experience and understanding of productivity projects is a must; ability to understand YOY savings, challenge calculations and support business partners in driving cost savings initiatives is an essential foundation for this role
- Strong background on the fundamentals of cost accounting to be able to understand results and relays its implications to business teams. Partnering with the accounting team is key to being successful at CSI.
- Recommend process and mapping improvements within financial systems to enable accurate reporting of key metrics.
- Responsible to ensure planning and forecasting meets key deadlines provided from the central FP&A and Operations FP&A teams
- Manage three FP&A employees under the Supply Chain and Distribution umbrella
- Strong understanding of Cycle Counting and working with auditors in relation to Inventory Audits is key to this role to support the Distribution function.
- Proactively partner with key leadership to bring enhanced visibility to enable smart decision making especially as it pertains to decisions around insourcing or outsourcing supply.
- Understanding of tariffs, its implications on supply chain with the ability to analyze and recommend mitigation actions.
Qualifications
- Prior experience within a manufacturing environment is strongly desired.
- Direct, hands-on experience in creating, tracking and controlling actual, forecast and budget metrics.
- Quickness of comprehension, willingness to be hands-on and to understand a complex Global Chart of Accounts
- Strong acumen and experience with a Financial Consolidation system is a must have (HFM, Adaptive Planning or similar)
- Willingness and ability to dig into ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365, Navision or similar) and data warehouses to consolidate detail comprehensively and synthesize results.
- Strong track record of business partnership
- Aptitude to learn and understand unique business models and enable continuous improvement
- Prior experience managing employees; able to be a mentor and coach to direct reports
- Proactively drive projects within Supply Chain & Distribution; understand when to delegate and provide guidance and when to lead
- Ability to analyze actual vs. plan results and summarize underlying drivers of variances as well as providing clear and succinct interpretation of results to management
- Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Teams skills (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs, graphs/charts, etc)
- Capable to support VP level leaders to drive their organizations as well as work with those at all levels of the organization
- Ability to participate in multi-cultural, global operating environment
- Understanding of accounting principles, including general working knowledge of US GAAP & SOX.
Minimal travel 5-10%.
- This role is based in an office environment.
- Role may be located on site in Trumbull, CT or Costa Rica.
- Travel as required to visit related operation and distribution sites.
