Under the direction of the General Manager the Assistant Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining customer service. The position is responsible for the various tasks involved in the successful operation of the store. The Assistant Manager is expected to be instrumental in the sales efforts within the store, and insure that each client receives the highest levels of personalized service. Service will include, but not be limited to, excellent knowledge and demonstration of products and accessories; personal product consultation, and development and maintenance of their customer client database. Embrace Company goals by taking ownership in and responsibility for commitments and standards and achieving monthly sales goals and performance metrics, perform routine operational tasks as assigned by the General Manager, and maintain the desired overall appearance of the store.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist GM in a supervisory role with staff to plan and schedule work and apply policies as directed.
  • Assist GM in semi-monthly payroll to insure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Be prepared to take on the day to day operations of the store in the event of GM’s absence.
  • Provide assistance in maximizing sales; utilizing customer lists, plan and organize special events and promotions in a manner that generates incremental and repeat business.
  • Ensure compliance with all city, state, FDA and federal compliance matters.
  • Assist GM in maintaining accurate inventory control and replenishment working closely with HQ procurement team, including cycle counts, stock requests, receiving processes. 
  • Ensure store maintains proper coverage and shifts are adjusted accordingly.
  • Assist and assign general/shared responsibilities among staff such as: store cleanliness, ensure maintenance of systems such as HVAC, smoke evacuation, AV, etc
  • Assist GM in training and motivation of the staff to ensure a superior customer experience, in depth product knowledge of the staff, and superior selling skills, leveraging Davidoff training programs
  • Provide assistance in maintaining a harmonious team culture focusing on the customer and the success of the business, minimizing and addressing conflicts.
  • Assist in promoting the efficient use of resources; time, staff, activities, merchandising, product offerings, appearance, etc. to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Working closely with marketing team, lead planning and execution of promoting in store and outside events that effectively promotes the Davidoff of Geneva since 1911 brand and to increase awareness of the Company’s portfolio.
  • Assist with marketing techniques, signage, visual merchandising and POS switch outs in line with company guidelines 
  • Sales goals: Ability to meet personal and store sales goals while embracing the DoG since 1911 Omni-channel strategy
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers 
  • Ability to learn and effectively convey product knowledge as a tobacconist to sell cigars, pipes, smoking accessories and other merchandise in the assortment
  • Proficiency in maintaining and developing a strong client book
  • Engage with community; Hotels, Restaurants, Golf Clubs and other business to business opportunities 
  • Increasing the customer database through rigorous approach to data capture
  • In and out of the store networking. Driving outside groups and customers into the stores.  


Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one – two years of luxury/tobacco retail sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – skillfully able to use technology to his/her and Company advantage
  • Genuine interest and experience in high-end luxury retail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner
  • Dress in a professional manner 
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships. 
  • Consistently seek product knowledge to act as an expert for the customer. 
  • Detail oriented with a pleasing personality; demonstrate an energetic and positive attitude. 
  • Foreign language skills strongly preferred
  • Have good knowledge and proficient in the use of computers and computer software such as; POS register system.
  • Good mathematical skills
