The Plan Coordinator position is responsible for a variety of duties including processing the setup of patient dental plan benefits
and ensuring accuracy with billing and fees. Assists other departments in processing of billing if needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan Setup Process
• Monitors a continuous flow of incoming e-mails from the field and offshore related to setting up or updating of insurance
plans (the offshore plans team is responsible for setting up the majority of plans)
• Plan Coordinator supports urgent and patient in chair requests for plan set up
• This position supports the offshore team by answering questions and clarifications, or resolving any issues that arise that
the offshore team is unable to handle
• Answers all clinic and corporate questions related to plans, fee posting issues and or billing problems
• Audits and trains offshore plan set-up for accuracy and use errors as examples for training opportunities
• Create, update and maintains fee schedules
• Updates and maintains insurance company information including billing address and electronic information
• Audits fee schedule issues – including when reported by clinic or corporate that there are inconsistencies.
Appointment Eligibility and Auditing
• Review all scheduled patient appointments two days out for correct fee schedule and correct if inaccurate
• Reviews eligibility and processes changes for the in-house plan (i.e. GD Smile). If plan has been terminated, Plan
Coordinator changes to cash and update fees in treatment plan.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Skill to type 50 words per minute
- Fluent in Excel, Word, Outlook, typing and number entry accuracy
- Must have a high level of attention to detail and good proofreading skills
- Must have excellent tracking and follow up skills
- Must maintain confidentially of all records
- Able to prioritize and adapt to high pressure situations and frequent changes
- Able to work without constant management oversight
- Experience with QSI software a plus
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• Dental Office experience useful (billing or other)
