JOB SUMMARY

The Research Assistant will be part of a team studying surgical interventions for common orthopedic conditions and will perform duties assisting with the development of orthopedic implants. Techniques used in the research include radiographic interpretation, chart review, 3-dimensional computer modeling, data entry, and paper composition.  This position will utilize computer skills, record keeping and experience with data collection in support of the research.  Presentation preparation and delivery may be required, as well as participation in research publication and attendance at national scientific conferences if able and appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES*

Job-Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection and record keeping related to research activities;
  • Analyze data;
  • Participate in lab meetings;
  • Assist in the preparation of figures for peer-reviewed publication and presentations;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience/Education/Certifications:

  • Degree or coursework in biology, neuroscience, psychology, or related field.
  • Demonstrated laboratory research experience in a biology or engineering laboratory.
  • Prior research-related experience

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and an interest in musculoskeletal pathology
  • Basic computer skills, record keeping and experience with data collection
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to organize and analyze experimental data
  • Desire to succeed in a fast-paced research environment with multiple duties
