Job Description:

TransMedics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Aviation Safety Specialist to help maintain and enhance our safety program within TransMedics Aviation.

Reports To: Director of Aviation Safety and Security

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Aviation Safety and Security in compliance with all safety programs, particularly those related to Federal Aviation Regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills and effective time management to promote a safe working environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Assist with regular safety audits, monthly internal evaluations and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the analysis of safety data and incident reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and resources to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure safety measures are integrated into operational processes.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and report findings to the Director of Safety and operational management.
  • Assist with investigations of accidents or incidents, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures.
  • Act as alternate Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator (AOSC).
  • Act as alternate Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the company FAA mandated Drug and Alcohol Program.
  • Stay updated on changes in federal aviation regulations and industry best practices related to safety.
  • Perform administrative functions within the Aviation Safety Programs.
  • Work closely with the Director of Aviation Safety and Security on critical Safety Program Improvements.
  • Travel, as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, aviation management, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in aviation, Preferred
  • Proven experience with aviation safety and SMS
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (Part 135 Operations)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
