About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Labour Relations, the Labour Relations Specialist supports a portfolio of Ontario branches, providing full-cycle employee and labour relations support.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic, fast-paced industry where you’ll interpret collective agreements, advise on workplace issues, and foster healthy relationships between management and union partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret provisions of collective agreements and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and standards.
  • Advise and consult with managers on employee relations issues, including attendance management, accommodations, and workplace investigations.
  • Manage end-to-end grievance handling, including mediations, arbitrations, and hearings at the Human Rights Tribunal and Ontario Labour Relations Board.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grievance and case files.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with Union Locals.
  • Draft and review employment correspondence, including disciplinary actions and termination letters.
  • Conduct labour relations training sessions and provide policy guidance to management.
  • Monitor and communicate key labour relations metrics and trends.
  • Stay current on employment legislation and best practices.
  • Travel to various branch locations as required.

Requirements

Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in labour relations within unionized and non-union environments in a medium to large organization.
  • A degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources, or Labour Relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of collective agreement interpretation, grievance administration, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to Have:

  • CHRP or CHRL designation (asset).
